Every Bite is an Occasion: Designing the Sweet Treats Campaign

A look at my design process, revisions, and final marketing materials for a celebration-focused dessert brand

For this project, I created a fictional dessert brand called Sweet Treats and designed a full marketing campaign for it. The goal of the assignment was to apply the design skills we have learned in class and create several pieces of promotional material that all work together visually.

These pieces included a poster, brochure, social media advertisements, and a billboard design. Each piece needed to use consistent branding and design principles such as hierarchy, alignment, contrast, and repetition.

Inspiration and Initial Concept

When I first started brainstorming ideas for this project, I wanted to create a brand that felt fun but also meaningful. I thought about how desserts are often connected to celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and other special moments. Because of that, I decided to create Sweet Treats as a dessert brand that focuses on making celebrations feel even more memorable.

The main message of the brand is captured in the tagline “Every Bite is an Occasion.” This idea helped guide the rest of the campaign and influenced the design choices I made throughout the project.

The campaign includes several marketing materials that all share the same style and message. The designs feature dessert photography with a soft background and a purple color scheme. Each piece also includes a consistent call to action encouraging customers to “Book your sweet celebration today!” For example, the poster highlights the brand logo and tagline along with a short description of the business and a list of services such as gourmet cupcakes, mini pastries, and dessert tables for events.

Design Process and Tools

To create the final campaign materials, I used several Adobe programs including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. In Adobe Illustrator, I created the Sweet Treats logo. I wanted the logo to look elegant but still fit the dessert theme, so I used a script style font and paired it with a cupcake icon. I experimented with different placements and sizes before deciding on the final layout.

Next, I used Adobe Photoshop to edit the dessert photos that appear throughout the campaign. I adjusted the lighting and contrast to make the images clearer and more visually appealing. I also softened the images slightly so that text placed on top would still be easy to read.

After editing the images and creating the logo, I used Adobe InDesign to put everything together. InDesign allowed me to organize the layout for each design piece and keep everything aligned. I used consistent spacing, typography, and color throughout the campaign to make sure all the materials looked connected.

Feedback From the Draft Project

After publishing my draft project, I received feedback from several classmates. Overall, the feedback was positive and many people said the concept and branding for Sweet Treats were strong. They mentioned that the campaign clearly communicated the idea of celebrating special moments with desserts.

However, my classmates also pointed out a few areas that could be improved. One comment mentioned that the call to action was not very clear in the draft version. Another suggestion was to improve readability because some text sections were harder to read depending on the color combinations and layout. A few classmates also pointed out some small spelling errors and repeated wording in parts of the brochure.

Receiving this feedback was helpful because it allowed me to see the project from another perspective and understand how viewers might interpret the designs.

Revisions for the Final Project

For the final version of the campaign, I made several revisions based on the feedback I received. One of the main changes was strengthening the call to action. The phrase “Book your sweet celebration today!” now appears clearly across all of the campaign materials so that viewers know what action they should take.

I also reviewed the layout of the text and adjusted some sections so the designs were easier to read. Improving the visual hierarchy helped make the most important information stand out more clearly. In addition, I carefully proofread the final designs to correct spelling mistakes and improve consistency across the materials.

Overall, this project gave me the opportunity to apply many of the design and communication skills we have practiced throughout the course. Creating a full campaign required thinking about branding, messaging, layout, and visual consistency across different platforms.

The feedback from my classmates helped me identify areas that needed improvement and allowed me to strengthen the final version of the campaign. Through the revision process, I was able to make the design clearer and more polished while still keeping the original concept of Sweet Treats as a brand focused on memorable celebrations.
